Fibre Fest

17-19th March 2017

Dornoch Social Club and West Church Hall

A warm welcome to our 8th Fibre Fest, our annual celebration of fibre and woollen crafts.

This year there is a distinctly woolly feel with classes in spinning, felting, knitting and tweed handbag making.

We start the weekend with an Opening Talk on Friday evening, followed by a
soup and cheese supper at the Social Club. Here and at the West Church Hall you will find many of our familiar traders and some new faces. There will be a wide variety of craft materials available to purchase and a number of classes and drop-in demonstrations where you can learn new skills.

Classes must be booked in advance but the drop-in sessions are free to all.

Our cushion competition is back! The cushion can be of any design using mixed media, but must not measure more than 18”. There are three prizes, two vouchers for Hobbycraft, and a special prize from the Shetland Sheep Society for any cushion which includes the use of Shetland Wool*.

*Please submit details and label (if available) showing the origin of the wool.

Do you want to declutter your fibre/materials/yarn stash?  If so take part in the Fibre Fest 'Stash Buster' in the Dornoch Social Club on Saturday 18th March 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. by completing our Stash Buster Form'.

Fibre Fest is run by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers and to help finance the running costs we are again holding a raffle. This year the first prize will be a Quality Quilting and Dressmaking Starter Kit worth £70! Other prizes will include a signed copy of the book “In the Footsteps of Sheep” by our guest speaker, and Day Class tutor, Debbie Zawinski.

We hope you enjoy your visit to Fibre Fest, and on behalf of the traders, tutors and demonstrators, thank you all for your support.
