Keira McFleat is a textile artist and patchwork & quilting tutor. She also runs Kiki’s Craft Corner in Lochcarron together with her husband Bart, where they provide classes and stock a wide range of crafting supplies. With a vast array of sewing and crafting skills Keira is an experienced teacher.
This appliqué class focuses on two of the main appliqué techniques, their uses and finishing methods by hand and/or machine.
Hearts (or flowers), leaves and a vine will be appliquéd onto a 15” background square, using bonding and non-bonding materials.
Various stitches (hand and machine) will be used, appropriate for the different techniques and finishes.
Samples of work showing the various application of the two techniques will also be discussed, so you will be able to decide which appliqué method to choose in future projects.
You can use a sewing machine for this class, or hand sew.
A list of requirements will be sent out prior to the class.
