Tania set up her business, TJ Frog, in 2015 launching at the Edinburgh Yarn Festival. Based on Skye Tania is an experienced tutor in Dorset Button making, a heritage industry in which she loves to share her skills and knowledge of while also developing her own Dorset sourced yarn range.
In this class Tania will show you how to make Dorset Buttons using the traditional techniques of casting, slicking, laying and rounding to make the famous Crosswheel design.
Using hollow brass rings, you will be able to explore different stitches with double knit and hand dyed 4ply yarn to make your own design. They are a great way to use up all those odd ends of yarn to make something beautiful to give a personal finishing touch to your yarn projects or to update or revitalise an old garment or accessory
Tania will chat about the history of Dorset Buttons and illustrate with the aid of samples how to add them to your yarn projects. A handout is provided for the workshop and future use.
All materials are included.
