Dorset Buttons – a heritage craft embellishment for your handmade projects.
Learn about the history and basic techniques of the traditional craft of Dorset Buttons. Starting with the Crosswheel design you’ll use the four techniques of casting, slicking, laying and rounding to make a Dorset Button. You’ll also learn additional stitches, the Birds Eyes design and how to add beads to your Dorset Buttons to bring extra colour, texture and sparkle to showcase these traditional designs in a contemporary way. With the basic techniques mastered there are endless designs. They are a great way to use up all those odd ends of yarn to make something quite beautiful to give a personal finishing touch to a knitted, crocheted or fabric project, to update and revitalize an old garment, or adorn a shawl, bag, hat or cushion. They are quite addictive!
